Terms and Conditions

Effective Date: March 15, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By integrating the Melo software with your existing security camera system, you ("Customer") agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

2. Scope of Service

Melo provides a software layer that integrates with existing hardware to detect community rule violations such as amenity abuse, sanitation issues, and unauthorized access. Melo does not provide, install, or maintain physical camera hardware.

3. Customer Obligations (Data Controller)

The Customer acts as the Data Controller under California law and is responsible for:

  • Notice: Providing clear, conspicuous signage at property entrances informing residents and visitors of AI-enhanced monitoring.
  • Compliance: Ensuring that cameras are not placed in areas with a reasonable expectation of privacy (e.g., bathrooms, locker rooms, or inside private residences).
  • Verification: Performing "Human-in-the-Loop" verification before issuing any fines or penalties based on Melo's detections.

4. Subscription and Fees

  • Standard Pricing: Pro accounts are billed at $100 per month, covering up to 6 cameras.
  • Add-ons: Additional cameras may be added for $25 per camera, per month.
  • Payment: Fees are billed monthly and are non-refundable.

5. Acceptable Use

Customers shall not use the service to:

  • Discriminate against or profile individuals based on protected characteristics (race, gender, religion, etc.).
  • Conduct surveillance for non-security or non-management purposes.
  • Violate any local, state, or federal privacy laws.

6. Limitation of Liability

Melo is a "high-tech assistant" for your security team. We are not liable for:

  • Detection Failures: Melo does not guarantee the detection of every violation or the prevention of any crime or injury.
  • Incorrect Fines: Any adverse action taken against a resident based on a "false positive" detection is the sole responsibility of the Customer.
